Caring for your jewelry
To keep your sterling silver jewelry looking new,
it is recommended that you do not use “silver dip” when polishing it.
Many of the pieces we carry have been intentionally oxidized to bring
out detail and dips will remove this oxidation, leaving the piece
looking dull and flat.
A silver polishing cloth is recommended for regular
maintenance of your silver, but if you have a bracelet with charms, this
can often be difficult, due to the nooks and crannies in many of the
charms. Instead, you can use something mild, such as a silver polishing
paste, which you can find in your local grocery store.
After you have lathered the bracelet with the paste
in the sink, rinse it well and blow it dry with a cool blow dryer. All
of the charms we sell can be polished this way, but if you have an old
charm and are in doubt about getting it wet, use a polishing cloth
instead.
If you do not plan to wear a certain sterling
silver piece for awhile, be sure it is completely dry and store it in a
sealed plastic bag. This will prevent air from getting to it, causing
oxidation to discolor it. If you wear your charm bracelet on a regular
basis, it should only require cleaning every once in awhile.
